Medina Corp History!

Picture
Carla Medina has been an Enrolled Agent for 5 years. Enrolled Agents are experts in tax planning, preparation of tax returns, and are effective advocates on behalf of taxpayers before the IRS and state agencies. Enrolled Agents are required to demonstrate competence in matters of taxation; their right to represent taxpayers comes directly from the U.S. Department of the Treasury. Unlike many tax preparers for whom tax preparation is a seasonal job from January through April 15, EAs provide tax services year-round in the field of tax planning, preparation, and representation.

There are only two ways to earn the Enrolled Agent designation. The first route is to take a three-part examination, one of the most difficult professional examinations in the country. The test covers all aspects of taxation, including ethics. The approval process for enrollment includes a thorough background investigation.

The other way to become an EA is to be employed by the IRS for a minimum of five years, regularly interpreting and applying provisions of the Internal Revenue Service Code and regulations.

Following enrollment, EAs are required to maintain a rigorous schedule of professional education in the tax field. Because of the difficulty in becoming enrolled and maintaining that enrollment, fewer than 45,000 tax professionals are currently enrolled as EAs.

After more than 15 years of operational and management experience as a golf professional, and one of a handful of women holding a PGA card, Carla decided it was time for a change realizing that her future as a golf professional would not be everlasting. In 2005, upon completion of her EA license and while being mentored by a top CPA for five years, Carla acquired the tax practice from the CPA and began Medina & Company, Inc.

Carla instantly gained rapport and confidence from the existing tax clients due to her interactions and work with them while studying under the tutoring of the retiring CPA and earning her EA license. She is successfully building her business and has increased the client base by at least 10% per year.

Having been an accounting major in college, Carla added bookkeeping services to her practice to further evolve her business. She has helped other business owners set priorities and create profitable entities for themselves.

Her clients range from start-up professionals to multi-million dollar incomes with multi-state filings.
